Grand Opening Of Borneo Safety Training Services
(2009/01/10) BORNEO SAFETY TRAINING SERVICES SDN
BHD (BSTS) held its grand opening ceremony in Desa Senadin on
Saturday. This is the latest integrated safety training school
opened in miri. The event was
attended by YB Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui (Minister of Plantation
Industries and Commodities), YB Lee Kim Shin (Sarawak’s Assistant
Minister of Infrastructure Development and Communications), YB Andy
Chia Chun Fatt (State Assemblyman N.64 Pujut), Dato Lau Siu Wai
(Chairman of Miri Housing Development Sdn. Bhd.), Dato Wee Yiaw Hin
(Managing Director of Shell Sarawak Berhad), Encik Abdul Ghafar Bin
Musa (Senior HSE Manager).
This
new training school was audited and approved by PETRONAS MANAGEMENT
UNIT (PMU), PETRONAS
CARIGALI SDN BHD, MALAYSIAN HELICOPTER SERVICES SDN BHD and PETRONAS
PRODUCTION SHARING CONTRACTORS (PSC) such as SHELL UPSTREAM
INTERNATIONAL (U.I.A) , JX NIPPON
OIL & GAS EXPLORATION CORPORATION and MURPHY OIL CORPORATION to conduct Basic Offshore Survival
Emergency Training (BOSET) and other safety courses. Borneo Safety
Training Services (BSTS) will
serve all industries in helping to develop their safety awareness,
safety
skills and emergency response course and ultimately contribute in preventing loss of life,
damage to properties and environment and reputation to the company.
Raymond Tan the Operations Director of BSTS said
that the centre has 8 fully air-conditioned classrooms, specially
designed inddor swimming pool along with 3 meter height platform,
scramble net, rope ladders, a helicopter underwater escape training
module (HUET), helicopter winching facilities, basic and advance
fire training ground, 2 units of 2 and 3 level smoke house, vessel
entry and authorised gas testing facilities, Lifting and Hoisting
Ground and also a special road safety tool called the 'Seat belt
convincer' for Defensive Driving Training (DDT).
BSTS will strive for excellence in providing
emergency response, occupational health & safety skills and
competency training to all the industries in Miri, Malaysia and
Worldwide.
